ZHAW graduates 77 Bachelor in Facility Management and 10 Master in Real Estate & Facility Management
On Friday, August 30, 2024, the graduation ceremony for the graduates of the Bachelor in Facility Management and the Master in Real Estate & Facility Management took place at Technopark Zurich. A total of 47 women and 40 men received their ZHAW diplomas.
In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Urs Hilber, Director of the ZHAW Department of Life Sciences and Facility Management, congratulated the graduates. Katrin Leuenberger, Head of the Real Estate Office of the Canton of Zurich and member of the Advisory Board of the Institute of Facility Management, gave the ceremonial address. She congratulated the graduates on their decision to study Real Estate and Facility Management, as they can make a significant contribution to the major social challenges with their knowledge and skills and well-trained specialists and managers are in demand.
Irene Arnold and Anja Fuchs-Barbana, Bachelor program directors, presented 77 students, 42 women and 35 men, with their Bachelor diplomas. Till Plüss graduated as the best student of the year and was honored by Athavan Akkan, President of ZHAW Alumni Facility Management. Together with Sara Lehmann, Till Plüss also received the prize for the best thesis, which was offered and presented by Rainer Artho, Managing Director of the Swiss Association for Facility Management and Maintenance "fmpro". Both completed their theses with the top grade of 6.00.
Prof. Dr. Isabelle Wrase and Zifei Wang-Speiser, Head of the Master's degree program, awarded 10 Master's diplomas to five women and five men. They are the first graduates of the consecutive Master's in Real Estate & Facility Management. Two students received the ZHAW Alumni Facility Management award for the best degree: Tania Kornsteiner and Severin Keller. Severin Keller also completed his Master's thesis with top marks and received the prize for the best Master's thesis entitled "Asset Returns and Liquidity: Empirical Insights from Publicly Traded Real Estate Assets" from Nora Dainton, board member of the IFMA Switzerland Chapter.
A final highlight of the evening was the entertaining review of an eventful period of study by Bachelor's students Anja Balsiger and Oliver Horner and Master's graduate Elsa Jeanfavre.
