Forum ö 2023: Sustainable development as a compass for the future

The Association for Sustainable Business öbu once again hosted this year's Forum ö, which took place on October 26 in Zurich. The conference is organized once a year and focuses on the topic of sustainable business.

The basic idea of the regenerative economy goes one step further: In an economic system that has to learn to deal with resource scarcity, simply maintaining the status quo is not enough. The regenerative economy seeks not only to preserve what already exists, but also to give back. It seeks to have a positive impact on the environment, society and the economy.

In the midst of biodiversity crisis, climate emergency and social inequalities, this year's Forum ö 2023 set an example for a regenerative economy. Every year, the event brings together around 300 committed personalities from the fields of sustainability, innovation & purchasing, members of the management of leading Swiss companies, as well as figures from science, civil society, politics and administration.

The ö 2023 Forum organized diverse breakout sessions and inspiring keynotes on topics such as "business as unusual" and "leadership for a regenerative economy."

The opening keynote entitled "New paths or old patterns? Boldly moving towards a regenerative economy" was presented at this year's conference by Prof. Dr. Stephan Hankammer from the Institute for Regenerative Economics (REGWI) Neuss (Germany). In his opinion, we need an economy that restores and regenerates. But for this we need many initiatives and companies. Further, he also discussed and presented the topic "Regenerative Company" and also "Sustainable Products in Companies".

With breakout sessions such as "Business as unusual" by Oxara or "Digitalization" by esentri, the Forum ö brought additional momentum to the conference. Participants were encouraged to present their own opinions and actively participate.

The Twin Transformation with esentri

The B-Corp certified consulting firm esentri presented digital and sustainable transformation in companies. The company combines digitalization and sustainability. The focus is on people. The breakout session addressed the questions Where are we today with sustainability? Where do companies stand? Are there already companies practicing sustainability and digitalization? were discussed. It was a dance through first steps of sustainability and digitalization in the companies for the participants.

In this year's edition, Forum ö again offered a wide variety of inspirations and showed paradigm shifts as well as practical possibilities for action. "Together we define the paths to a regenerative economy and with new knowledge, thought-provoking impulses and useful contacts they can start in practice," says Forum ö.
