Power-to-gas: Congress shows current developments
A power-to-gas congress is planned for September 2021 in the Umweltarena Spreitenbach.
Switzerland wants to phase out nuclear power and cease net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Energy from renewable sources is in demand, but electricity production from solar and wind power fluctuates strongly. This raises the question of how to store renewable electricity. How could photovoltaic electricity, which is plentiful in summer, be made usable for the winter, when there is little sunshine?
Overview of the current development
Among the storage solutions that reduce import dependency, many expectations are placed on power-to-gas technology. It converts electric power into storable hydrogen or methane. This technology is the focus of the first Power-to-Gas Congress. It is planned for the September 14, 2021 is planned in the Umweltarena Schweiz in Spreitenbach. The event will provide an overview of current developments and present corresponding projects that will be put to the test on the market.
