Wanted: smart solar projects
Once again, the Solar Agency Switzerland will award the best solar installations and the most climate-friendly plus-energy buildings with the Swiss Solar Prize 2021. The most committed personalities in the solar sector are also sought. Architects, builders and experts can now apply for the prestigious prize.
In Switzerland, more and more Plus-Energy-Buildings (PEB) and PEB multi-family houses are being built. Thanks to efficient construction and solar-utilized roofs and facades, they cover the entire annual energy demand for hot water, heating and electricity themselves. In addition, they generate additional CO2-free solar power surpluses that flow into the public grid or are used to charge electric vehicles. In recent years, residential and commercial PEBs with CO2-free self-supply of more than 500% to even 800% have repeatedly been awarded the Solar Prize. This figure illustrates the enormous energy potential that can be exploited thanks to the latest technology in the building sector and especially in apartment buildings.
Submit application by mid-April
Innovative solar buildings and energy plants as well as dedicated personalities and institutions that are particularly committed to renewable energies can still be registered until April 15, 2021. Energy-efficient buildings and facilities (solar, wood and biomass energy) that were or will be commissioned between Jan. 1, 2019, and April 15, 2021, are eligible to enter. The most beautiful PlusEnergieBauten® will be awarded the prestigious Norman Foster Solar Award and possibly the European Solar Prize.
The Swiss Solar Prize 2021 will be awarded in the following three categories in the fall of 2021 in Geneva:
- Persons/institutions: natural/legal persons, companies, municipalities/cantons, public institutions
- Buildings: new buildings, refurbishments and plus-energy buildings - in particular PEB multi-family houses.
- Plants: thermal solar collectors, photovoltaic plants, biomass and environmental heat plants.
The application period for the 2021 Solar Prize runs until April 15, 2021.
Registration/participation is free of charge. Registration forms, conditions of participation and the Solar Prize and PEB regulations can be found here: www.solaragentur.ch
