Clean-Up Day was a nationwide success

Switzerland's National Clean-Up Day is embedded in the international "Let's Do it!" movement, founded in 2008, which campaigns worldwide against littering with clean-up campaigns.

Clean-Up Day on September 13 and 14, 2019, was a complete success: 40,000 people actively participated in the more than 650 local actions. The feedback that the organizers received from the municipalities, schools and associations was consistently positive.

In particular, the implementation of a national day of action and support in organization, planning and media relations were welcomed.

The Clean-Up Day received official support from the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN), the Swiss Association of Municipal Infrastructure (SVKI), the Pusch Foundation, as well as actress Melanie Winiger and various members of the National Council and the Council of States.

Finally, the media also got involved and spread the word about our cause. A total of around 850 media reports appeared on Clean-Up Day 2019 and the IGSU. This generated a great deal of attention for the IGSU's commitment to combating littering.

"We are convinced that with our continuous awareness-raising work we can have a lasting influence on behavior with regard to correct waste disposal and change it step by step - towards a clean Switzerland. This includes the work of the IGSU ambassador teams, our workshops in schools and also the national Clean-Up Day," says the current press release of the organizers.

The Clean-Up Day will consequently also take place next year on Friday, 11 and Saturday, 12 September 2020. You can find more information at:
