Axpo hires Christoph Brand from Tamedia as CEO
The Axpo energy group has made a find in its search for a new boss. Christoph Brand will take up the post in summer 2020 at the latest.
Christoph Brand, currently deputy CEO at media group Tamedia, will succeed Andrew Walo, who is leaving Axpo, as announced in June. From October, Chairman of the Board of Directors Thomas Sieber will also take over the operational management of the group on an interim basis for the transition period, the company announced on September 19, 2019.
Brand has been a member of Tamedia's Executive Board since 2012 and is responsible for the "Classifieds & Marketplaces" division; he has been Deputy CEO since 2019. He was also Sunrise CEO from 2006 to 2010. He also previously held leading positions at the telecoms group Swisscom.
Meanwhile, the search for a successor to Brand is underway at Tamedia, the media company said in a separate announcement. This will ensure a smooth transition of "Classifieds & Marketplaces" into Tamedia's new organizational structure as of January 1, 2020, it also said.
Because, as announced in June, Tamedia will form a decentralized organizational structure with four independent business units at the turn of the year. (Source: XING)
