sanu: 30 years of education and consulting for sustainable development

Sanu AG, which is now called sanu future learning ag, has greatly developed its educational offering over the past 30 years. In order to do justice to the complexity of the environmental sector and to be able to offer each organization tailor-made solutions, sanu is oriented towards contemporary environmental developments.

Through innovative approaches, sanu aims to expand its activities and, above all, to translate their impact into practice. Sanu AG, which is now called sanu future learning ag, has greatly developed its educational offering over the past 30 years. In order to cope with the complexity of the environmental field and to offer tailor-made solutions to each organization, sanu is oriented towards contemporary environmental developments.

New forms of work, communication, management, leadership and collaboration: more and more sanu clients are benefiting from our experience in supporting strategic and participatory processes for sustainable development.

Just as the world is constantly changing, so is sanu ag.

Less than a year after the handover to the new CEO of sanu future learning ag, Marc Münster, there are not only changes in corporate communications, but also new additions to the team: Ursula Spycher, a key figure in the last two-thirds of sanu's 30-year history, will leave the company at the end of March 2019. Bernhard Wyss, a passionate marketer with a richly filled digital and IT backpack, will take over as head of "management & events support". Laure Mäder will also join sanu in spring 2019. She will take over from Coraline Sahin as project manager of the "planning & construction" division.

Their baptism of fire is coming up this fall with the "Soil Science Construction Monitoring" course.

Environmental competencies that first had to be created

Whereas in the 1980s, sanu was primarily concerned with the protection of nature and the implementation of new legislation, later sanu also devoted itself to the development of competencies necessary to change the professional practices of public and private organizations and industries. The maintenance of green spaces in municipalities, environmental management in companies, the promotion of biodiversity among specialists or environmental construction supervision have sometimes become the center of interest of sanu. Sanu has always been committed to the professional development of generalists in all professions who wish to integrate the environment into their competence profile.

Today, it offers two preparatory courses for the federal diplomas of environmental consultant and nature and environmental specialist in French and German.

Restructuring wherever you look

In 1989 alone, the Berlin Wall fell, Voyager 2 flew over Neptune and the tanker Exxon Valdez went to the bottom of the sea off Canada. The Swiss Federal Council decided to ban aerosol cans containing chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), which were suspected of contributing to the formation of the ozone hole.

In 1989, sanu ag (then called "Swiss Training Center for Nature and Environmental Protection") was founded in Biel. In 2012, the entire operational part of sanu took the legal form of a public limited company to give it the necessary flexibility and responsiveness in a rapidly changing market. As for the initial sanu foundation, it evolved into a think and do tank under the name sanu durabilitas. Today, sanu ag employs 25 permanent staff and more than 300 external experts. sanu ag offers more than 100 services to around 3,000 clients per year with a turnover of just over 3 million Swiss francs.

Time to celebrate and share:

We would like to take the opportunity of our anniversary celebration to discuss and play with time with our friends, partners and other interested parties on May 17, 2019, and to reflect on time in different cultures, dimensions and relationships through exciting contributions. How much time do we have, and how much time do we give ourselves for what? We would also like to offer some time to those who will not come on that day, in the form of interactive mini-conferences on the environment and future issues. Any company or organization that would like to benefit from our experience and vision on current issues can contact us.

We would be delighted if our staff could visit your organization and give you an hour of their time in this anniversary year. More details about our anniversary activities can be found at here
