15th Swiss Hazardous Waste Day SAT 2018
The Swiss Hazardous Waste Day is already taking place for the 15th time. This year's day again presents a varied program for specialists from industry, trade, institutions and authorities. The conference features a wide range of presentations on problems and solutions in the transport of hazardous waste. It also revolves around current challenges in disposal and recycling, where waste and chemicals legislation is also not neglected.
The entry into force of the VVEA (Waste Ordinance) led to disposal conflicts in certain areas. In the case of wood ash and filter dust, for example, it was no longer possible to comply with the new limit values specified in the VVEA, which is why new waste treatment processes had to be sought. The problems and possible solutions to these disposal conflicts are explained in more detail by Dr. Urs Rhyner.
Benny Irniger from EcoServe International AG would like to clear away possible stumbling blocks in connection with the VeVA (Ordinance on the Transport of Waste) with his presentation. What in particular needs to be taken into account when drawing up consignment bills so that transport can be carried out in compliance with the law, and what exceptions to the consignment note requirement can be applied in practice? What tools are available for the correct assignment of waste codes and how should waste packages be correctly labeled?
Environmental Crime
An explosive topic will be presented by Ms. Martina Rivola. Her presentation "Environmental Crime - Focus on Waste" will take the participants from the Hazardous Waste Day into police work. Learn how criminal investigation in the field of waste crimes (e.g. illegal practices in waste disposal) works and where cooperation with the authorities in environmental crimes is necessary.
Hazardous waste incineration
Mr. Martin Droste from Valorec Services AG explains in his presentation why the Regional Hazardous Waste Incineration Plants (RSMVA) are needed in Switzerland respectively in Basel. Martin Droste gives an insight into the technology of waste incineration, which restrictions apply, which challenges the Swiss hazardous waste incineration faces, which opportunities exist for the RSMVA and other interesting details.
Waste and chemicals legislation
Have you ever been faced with the challenge of classifying your hazardous waste correctly in terms of waste and chemical legislation? To make this easier in the future, the presentation by Mr. Matthias Mettke of Swiss Safety Center AG can help. He will talk about the interfaces in waste and chemical law and explain which connections between the two areas of law must be observed in practice.
No less topical is the contribution by Andreas Heller, SafeRec AG, on the challenge in connection with the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. The devices are changing, becoming smaller and less and less recyclable material is built into them. An important point here is financing, where does the problem lie and what are the possible solutions?
In addition to the wide range of technical presentations, the Hazardous Waste Day will be rounded off by an accompanying exhibition and supported by the patronage partners, the VREG Waste Disposal Association (FVG) and the Swiss Association for Environmental Technology (SVUT). Secure your place today, we look forward to hearing from you.
