Bern University of Applied Sciences offers support in the field of Generative AI

The possibilities of generative AI are currently developing very quickly. The technology generates new content based on specifications and existing data. The potential for companies is huge, but deciding how best to use the technologies is difficult. Bern University of Applied Sciences BFH offers support with the newly founded Generative AI Lab.

Generative AI offers new, unexplored possibilities that could improve and innovate various aspects of business and technology. The Generative AI Lab at BFH is an innovative research facility dedicated to exploring and advancing the capabilities of AI technology in the creation of new content such as text, images and music. The areas of application are diverse and include, for example, health, well-being, industry, art and communication.

BFH offers collaboration opportunities with a variety of stakeholders, including SMEs, startups and public authorities, to facilitate and support this transformative journey into the field of generative AI. The Lab has evolved from the Applied Machine Intelligence AMI research group, which has been active in AI research and development projects in various industries for years. As a result, the Generative AI Lab has specific infrastructure at its disposal to test the use of the new technology for partners as part of case studies.

The Generative AI Lab team is led by Prof. Dr. Mascha Kurpicz-Briki for the language models and Dr. Souhir Ben Souissi for the multimedia models.

"There is huge potential in the new technologies, and the knowledge must be transferred from research to the Swiss economy. We are supporting this transfer with the Generative AI Lab," says Prof. Dr. Mascha Kurpicz-Briki.

"We look forward to advancing generative AI technologies and their applications in Switzerland," adds Dr. Souhir Ben Souissi.
