"Friendly Work Space" label: 5 new award-winning organizations
Around 130 representatives from label "Friendly Work Space" organizations took part in this year's networking event in Aarau. In her keynote speech, neuroscientist Barbara Studer showed, among other things, how we can protect our brains and, in positive cases, even prevent the onset of illness.
Our brains need protection and care to keep us mentally fit and healthy in our challenging working world. Deep work instead of multitasking. At this year's networking event, where the "Friendly Work Space" label was awarded, neuroscientist Barbara Studer showed how this can be achieved. She provided participants with the latest findings from neuroscience on the effects of stress on the brain as well as specific recommendations on neurobalance, creativity, increasing mental agility and creating a healthy working environment. For example, sleep, humor, healthy eating and exercise protect our brains.
As a neuroscientist with teaching and research activities at the University of Bern and as co-founder and CEO of "Hirncoach", Barbara Studer is involved in effective programs for mental fitness and health for private individuals, schools and other institutions.
The mental fitness and health of teams are crucial for their performance, collaboration and well-being. Stress management techniques, mindfulness practices and resilience training are therefore part of everyday working life in order to improve the resilience and well-being of employees. Promoting a culture of support and cohesion within the team also helps to reduce stress, prevent burnout and increase productivity. In positive cases, mental well-being can even prevent the onset of illness.

Label helps to raise awareness among management and promote health
"The BGM criteria of "Friendly Work Space" support companies in systematically implementing health management. We award the label to companies that succeed in systematically implementing the quality criteria," explains Prof. Dr. Thomas Mattig, Director of Health Promotion Switzerland. An evaluation carried out by the BASS office between May 2018 and February 2020 confirmed the impact of the label: Management awareness in the area of employee health, as well as the anchoring and systematic implementation of OHM, improve significantly from one certification to the next.
The structure of BGM is based on 6 quality criteria
The way in which health management is implemented in each organization is individual. This is based on six quality criteria of "Friendly Work Space", which make the factors influencing the health of employees tangible and assessable. If independent assessors confirm that all six criteria are met, the organization receives the "Friendly Work Space" label for 3 years. The BGM criteria of "Friendly Work Space" are supported by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco) and the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG). Companies that have already been awarded the label can be re-certified every three years. The promotion and implementation of OHM is a strategic focus of Health Promotion Switzerland.
