Björn Avak becomes new Managing Director of Electrosuisse
The Electrosuisse Board of Directors has appointed Dr. Björn Avak as the new Managing Director of Electrosuisse. He will take up the position on January 1, 2025. Björn Avak has worked for Electrosuisse as Head of the Consulting, Inspection and Engineering division since 2017. During this time, he successfully digitalized the range of services and built up interdisciplinary engineering as a new business area with his team.
Björn Avak (44) is an electrical engineer, studied at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, and completed a doctorate at ETH Zurich. Before joining Electrosuisse, he worked for the building technology division of Siemens AG, where he held various specialist and management positions in product management and sales.
"I am delighted that, following a multi-stage selection process, we have been able to recruit Björn Avak, a talented individual from our own ranks, for this position. He has broad experience in electrical and energy technology, knows the industry and is very familiar with Electrosuisse's diverse activities," says Dr. Dieter Reichelt, President of Electrosuisse.
Björn Avak succeeds Markus Burger, who is retiring at the end of May 2025 after thirteen years of successful service. The Board of Directors of Electrosuisse would like to thank Markus Burger for his great commitment over the past years. Under his leadership, Electrosuisse's position as a relevant partner for customers and members has been sustainably strengthened.
The newly appointed Managing Director Björn Avak says: "I am looking forward to my new role and working with the Electrosuisse team. The industry is facing exciting challenges. The Electrosuisse trade organization is ideally equipped to contribute to this with holistically thought-out solutions."
