Leica Geosystems, a pioneer in modern measurement technology, has been synonymous with precision and innovation for decades. Founded in Heerbrugg in 1921, the company has set standards worldwide and established itself as a leading global provider of surveying solutions, machine control, software for geoinformation and digital twins. Since becoming part of the Swedish Hexagon Group, the company has invested heavily in the Heerbrugg site, significantly increased its workforce and successfully completed its transformation into a leading global provider of sensor and software technologies. In recent years, expertise in artificial intelligence and robotics has also been built up on the Wild Heerbrugg site. For Hexagon, Heerbrugg is and remains an innovation factory that embodies what characterizes the Swiss think tank and workplace and the Rhine Valley in particular: innovation is tradition.

Commitment to the business location

The jury recognizes Leica Geosystems as an important pioneer for the economy in the Rhine Valley. The company has made a significant contribution to the transformation of the Rhine Valley into the so-called "Precision Valley". Leica Geosystems is regarded as a model company that combines innovation and tradition in a unique way. 20 years after the takeover by Hexagon, Leica Geosystems remains deeply rooted in the region and has since brought many new technologies and created numerous jobs in the high-tech sector. With a planned new building on the Wild Heerbrugg site, Leica Geosystems will continue to invest significantly in the location and attractive jobs in the future. This strong connection to the Rhine Valley and the continuous commitment to the Rhine Valley as a business location were decisive reasons for this year's award.

Presentation of certificate and sculpture

As the successor to Lütolf AG, the 2024 award winner, Leica Geosystems will be presented with the certificate at the company in mid-November and the "Rhine Valley Economy Award" sculpture at the Rhine Valley Economic Forum in January. The Rhine Valley Economy Award recognizes companies that stand out for their innovation, entrepreneurial performance and commitment to the region. The jury includes Klaus Brammertz (President), AGV Rheintal; Sabina Saggioro, Verein St.Galler Rheintal; as well as one representative from each of the five main sponsors, Galledia Regionalmedien and the Rheintaler Wirtschaftsforum.
