Swiss Economic Forum 2024: the program is set

The Swiss Economic Forum (SEF) is taking place for the 26th time this year and will once again transform Interlaken into a meeting place for leading personalities from business, politics and science on June 6 and 7, 2024. This year's motto is "When the going gets tough".

How do you run a company in a world of constant crises? At this year's SEF, participants and speakers will work together to find answers to how Switzerland's innovative strength can be harnessed and how sustainable strategies can be used to successfully lead our economy into the next generation.

Top-class speakers with interesting discussion topics

The program for the SEF has been finalized and the list of speakers promises a variety of outstanding national and international personalities from the fields of business, politics and science. These include, among others:

  • Viola Amherd, President of the Swiss Confederation, will give the opening speech.
  • Sanna Marin, former Prime Minister of Finland, gives an interview on the geopolitical situation.
  • Mike Pompeo, former US Secretary of State, talks about the challenges of global politics.
  • Nassim Taleb, renowned American economist and trend analyst, shares his insights into the current fragile state of the global economy.
  • Thomas SchäferCEO of VW, discusses the question of whether the electric revolution has already reached its end.
  • Jeff Rowe, CEO of the Syngenta Group highlights the struggle to feed a growing world population.
  • Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling, talks about the transformation of the watch industry.

Main topics of the conference

"This year, we have placed the thematic focus on economic resilience and the development of strategies to overcome crises," says Corine Blesi, Managing Director, NZZ Connect. "But we also discuss geopolitical conflicts and the importance of emerging markets - always with a focus on the impact on Swiss companies."

Another key topic is the use of artificial intelligence and how Swiss innovations promote new technologies and business models in order to combine growth and ecological responsibility.

Looking to the next generation

The SEF offers participants the opportunity to exchange ideas with the next generation of entrepreneurs. This includes the presentation of the SEF.Award, the most important prize for young entrepreneurs in Switzerland, as well as the involvement of the SEF.NextGen Community. Side events include the SEF.Founder Conference with 250 female founders and multipliers and the SEF.Academy with a further training program for 30 young managers.
