SHL Medical acquires Swiss toolmaking company SMC Mould Innovation
SHL Medical, headquartered in Zug, has announced the acquisition of Schaffhausen-based SMC Mould Innovation, a leading Swiss developer and manufacturer of high-performance injection molds.
Following the acquisition of LCA Automation in Switzerland and Superior Tooling in the USA, this is SHL's third acquisition within a year as part of the company's expansion strategy. This aims to meet the growing market demand for auto-injectors, expand global production capacity and strengthen expertise along the value chain worldwide. The integration of SMC will support SHL's global operations, but in particular strengthen the vertical manufacturing activities at the new Zug production site, which is currently under construction.
SHL and SMC share many years of experience in the development and manufacture of injection molds and complement each other in their efforts to offer their customers efficient and innovative solutions.
"With the acquisition of SMC, we are strengthening our position as market leader, supporting our global corporate development and meeting the needs of the market in the long term. At the same time, with the additional expertise provided by SMC, we are consolidating one of our most important unique selling points - the full in-house production of our products and solutions," emphasizes Ulrich Fässler, Chairman and CEO of SHL Medical.
Konrad Stadelmann and Paul Conrad, Managing Directors of SMC Mould Innovation add: "As a small company, we are very much looking forward to bringing our skills to a global context and using our valuable Swiss expertise to help generate a positive contribution in the form of the highest precision and manufacturing quality for both existing and many new customers."
