Digital revolution: The new meaning of digital experiences
The structure of organizations today is changing rapidly, accelerated by the recent global pandemic and the shift to hybrid working models. Employee expectations have changed dramatically, especially with the entry of Generation Z and Millennials into the workplace.

61 million Generation Z professionals are entering the workforce and will make up 30 % of the workforce by 2030. Companies must now offer exceptional digital experiences to retain these digital natives. The younger generation has grown up in an era of unprecedented technological advancement and expects seamless digital tools to boost their productivity. 68% of global executives believe that younger employees would consider leaving the organization if they don't have a seamless digital experience.
Exceptional digital experiences are important
McKinsey & Company has identified alarmingly high numbers of employees who are dissatisfied with their jobs and are planning to change. Almost a third of respondents in Europe said they would quit their jobs in the next three to six months, while the number of vacancies has almost doubled. This makes it more difficult to fill vacancies.
The role of IT leaders has expanded to meet the demand for IT talent while creating digital experiences that add value. In the new "2023 Global Digital Employee Experience" survey commissioned by Riverbed, 1,800 business and IT decision makers provided insights into employee sentiment about their digital experiences. Above all, it shows that digital experiences are crucial: The survey found that 49 % of employees consider seamless digital experiences to be the most important concern at work. However, companies face challenges such as budget constraints, insufficient tools and talent shortages. As a result, it is becoming increasingly difficult to meet the needs of employees.
DEM as a solution approach
Digital Experience Management (DEM) can help overcome these challenges, meet the needs of employees and drive revenue growth at the same time. Companies should invest in the right digital tools to save money and increase efficiency. 92 % of respondents recognize the importance of end-to-end observability to deliver an exceptional DEX and remain competitive.
The IT department plays a crucial role in overcoming staff shortages. The importance of IT in companies has increased significantly in recent times. 69 % of business and IT decision makers believe that failure to meet the technological and digital needs of younger generations could have an impact on reputation and the business as a whole. 64 % believe that Millennial and Generation Z team members would consider leaving the organization if they don't have a seamless digital experience.
Unified observability technologies like Riverbed's solutions can create better digital experiences and close the skills gap. As leaders begin to prioritize the digital experience as much as their employees, they will reap the long-term benefits of staying competitive in the marketplace, reducing staff turnover while increasing cash conversion and driving better overall business results.
