Fairtrade SA: Stephan Schad is the new managing director
The new Managing Director of Fairtrade SA in Rothenburg is Stephan Schad. The 56-year-old purchasing, sales and supply chain specialist will take over in mid-October 2023 from Mike Mahler, who has decided to take on a new challenge.

The Board of Directors of Fairtrade SA, which trades in food commodities such as nuts, dried fruit, sugar, cocoa or vanilla, has appointed Stephan Schad as its new Managing Director. Stephan Schad brings great expertise in sustainable trade and many years of leadership experience in purchasing, sales and supply chain management. Most recently, he was head of procurement, planning and logistics for Biotta AG. Stephan Schad, 56, will take over the post from Mike Mahler in mid-October 2023. Mahler decided to take on a new challenge in the summer - after 14 years with Fairtrade SA, nine of them as Managing Director.
Patrick Lobsiger, Chairman of the Fairtrade Board of Directors, is delighted: "With Stephan Schad, we are gaining a proven expert in international food commodity trading. We are convinced that, thanks to his strategic thinking and know-how, he will lead the company into a continued successful future."
