With the Prix SVC Ostschweiz, it honors exemplary SMEs that impress with their innovative products and services, their corporate culture, the quality of their employees and management and their sustainable track record. A prerequisite for nomination by the jury is strong roots in the region.

The 2024 finalists: Five compelling success stories from the economic region of Eastern Switzerland

Emil Egger Group

The owner-managed family business with around 800 employees at 11 locations has established itself as a renowned force in the logistics industry. Specializing in general cargo, heavy lift and warehouse logistics, the company is distinguished by its expertise in handling oversized goods. Emil Egger is one of the top 20 crane service providers in the entire German-speaking region. The company is managed in the third generation by the brothers Michael and Markus Egger.

Huber Windows AG

Almost all windows are custom-made according to the wishes and ideas of architects and building owners. The independent, medium-sized family business has specialized in precisely this for 140 years: high-quality windows and individual façade elements. The company considers its 101 employees, who are managed by the three brothers Matthias, Pascal and Sebastian Huber in the fifth generation, to be the most important factor in its success.

Fairytale Hotel AG

The foundation stone for today's fairytale hotel was laid in 1977, when the hotel manager of the Grand Hôtel Bellevue told the young guests a fairytale for the first time. This tradition has continued uninterrupted ever since. Under the management of Nadja and Patric Vogel, 55 employees work every day to ensure that families can enjoy a fairytale break in Braunwald. The company has developed into one of the largest tourist employers in the canton of Glarus and has already received several awards as one of the "best family hotels in Switzerland".

Nussbaum Matzingen AG

"We Can" - aluminum cans are the cosmos of the family business founded in 1963. The company focuses on developing sustainable and innovative aluminum packaging solutions for the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, food and industrial sectors and manufacturing them in an environmentally friendly way. High-quality monobloc cans are produced in three plants in Switzerland and Germany. The Nussbaum Group employs more than 300 people and sells its products worldwide. Florian J. Nussbaum is CEO and owner of the company.

Zindel United

Andreas Zindel is the eighth generation of his family to run the family business, which covers every stage in the life cycle of a building: from the initial idea to financing and planning, the demolition and renovation of existing buildings through to new construction, maintenance and the necessary logistics. Zindel United employs around 450 people, and the main site in Maienfeld is supplemented by eight other sites in Graubünden, Walenstadt and the St. Gallen Rhine Valley.
