Depending on the Covid 19 situation, this year's Swiss Hazardous Waste Day will take place at the Hotel Arte in Olten or as a live online meeting. Organized by EcoServe, the meeting point for specialists and those responsible for waste disposal will once again offer promising topics:

  • The interrelationships and complexity between waste and hazardous goods legislation can overwhelm some sender companies. Martin Häfliger, Encoma OSG GmbH, addresses the known problems with waste declaration and their consequences.
  • Rita Barros, Federal Office for the Environment, will present the updated medical waste guidance document and address the adaptations.
  • Has anything changed and developed technically and legally in the last 30 years in asbestos abatement? Walter Hiltpold, Carbotech AG, will provide a retrospective and outlook on this.
  • Ralf Kägi of the Eawag Water Research Institute has been intensively investigating whether nanoparticles pose a problem in the disposal chain. The results of the investigations will be the subject of his presentation.
  • Stefan Bahamonde, Libattion GmbH, will show in his presentation how Li batteries can be prepared and used in a modular way.
  • Viktor Häfeli (SVUT-Board of Directors) and Urs Bucheli will address the safe handling of defective or crashed electric vehicles.
  • The Foundation for Recycling of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (SENS) will take up the recovery and destruction of refrigerants and propellants. Experts Roman Eppenberger and Niklaus Renner will report on this.

The event is aimed at professionals from industry, commerce, institutions and authorities.
