OdA Waste and Raw Materials Management regrouped
Recently, the OdA Waste and Raw Materials Management Association was established. It is a successor organization in connection with the VVEA ordinance. Behind it are twelve associations.

For the implementation of the "Ordinance on the Prevention and Disposal of Waste (TCEA)", the most important industry associations in the Swiss waste and raw materials industry joined forces a few years ago to form the Organization of the World of Work (OdA). In order to further professionalize the structures after the initial set-up phase and to implement the framework agreement concluded with the Cercle déchets, the members have now decided to reorganize the OdA as an association.
Twelve founding members
At the digital founding meeting on January 15, 2021, representatives of the twelve founding members were ARV Building Materials Recycling Switzerland, Swiss Steel, Metal and Paper Recycling Association (VSMR), Professional Association VREG Disposal, Swiss Shredder Association (SSV), R-Suisse, cemsuisse, Association of Swiss Waste Recycling Plant Operators (VBSA), Swiss Association for Environmental Technology (SVUT), Swiss Gravel and Concrete Industry Association (FSKB), Biomass Suisse, asphaltsuisse and Swiss Recycling present.
The members elected Thomas Bähler, managing director of VSMR, as president of the new association. He said at the recycling congress at the end of January that it was a stroke of luck that the waste and raw materials industry had come together. OdA managing director is Patrik Geisselhardt, who is managing director of Swiss Recycling. He will take care of the operational measures and communication of the organization, according to the newly founded association.
Making education and training offers more visible
With the newly founded association, the current training and further education offers "from the industry for the industry" are to be made more visible and further developed, writes Oda Waste and Raw Materials Management. For this purpose, there will now also be a steering committee: It regulates the details of the implementation and standards regarding education and training according to VVEA. In this way, synergies can be better exploited in the future and the costs and time required for course participants can be kept low.
In addition, the association would like to establish itself as a reliable and competent contact vis-à-vis the authorities and other stakeholders and maintain a regular exchange with the Federal Office for the Environment and Cercle Déchets on the current state of the art, according to the statement.
The next priority is for the cantons to join the interbranch agreement. According to the consistently positive feedback, this step should be achieved in the course of 2021. Furthermore, the communication of the OdA Waste and Raw Materials Management will be reorganized in the coming months and a roadmap for the next three years will be drawn up, as the media release concludes.
