Swiss Technology Award 2024: finalists have been announced

Nine promising innovations have been nominated in three categories for the final of the Swiss Technology Award 2024. The professional jury has made an initial shortlist from over 100 applications. On November 22, 2024, the three winning companies will be announced at Open-i - the Swiss innovation platform.

The Swiss Technology Award (STA) has been Switzerland's most important technology prize for 36 years. In each of the three categories, one project is chosen that particularly impresses the jury with its above-average market potential and outstanding novelty value.

The finalists for the Swiss Technology Award 2024 are

Inventors" category

  • Mynerva develops Leia, a neuroprosthetic sock that uses non-invasive neurostimulation to relieve pain and restore touch sensitivity in diabetic neuropathy.
  • Rhovica Neuroimaging AG is working with SoNav on a precision-controlled neurosurgical catheter and monitoring system that saves lives and improves treatment outcomes during emergency treatment of patients with increased intracranial pressure.
  • RoBoa develops a snake-like robot with growth-based locomotion that sets new standards for industrial inspections and search and rescue operations thanks to its unique maneuverability and safety.

 Category "Start-ups (Rising Stars)"

  • DePoly SA has developed a technology that breaks down PET plastics into their raw monomers to produce recycled PET in virgin quality and thus promote a sustainable circular economy for plastics.
  • irmos technologies AG, an ETH spin-off, develops AI-supported software and customized sensors to maximize the safe operating life of existing bridges and buildings and minimize maintenance costs.
  • Oxyle AG offers an economical and sustainable solution for the complete elimination of PFAS contamination in water with minimal energy consumption and no secondary waste.

Industry Innovation" category

  • Bachem AG provides an innovative solution for the more efficient and environmentally friendly purification of peptides and oligonucleotides with its MCSGP technology, thereby reducing production costs and improving sustainability.
  • Bystronic AG integrates sensor and AI-based real-time monitoring into its laser cutting machines to ensure cutting quality, increase autonomy and reduce operating costs.
  • HeiQ AeoniQ Holding AG has developed HeiQ AeoniQ, a sustainable cellulosic filament yarn that replaces fossil fibers such as polyester and nylon, uses 100% renewable energy and contributes to CO₂ reduction.

Announcement of the winning companies to Open-i

At Open-i on November 22, 2024, the companies participating in the final will present their pioneering projects to a high-profile audience. The winners will then be announced on stage. The new innovation conference is the ideal platform for innovative companies to find out about the latest developments, exchange ideas and make new contacts. At Open-i, leading Swiss SMEs, start-ups & investors, large corporations, innovative minds from science and top talents of the next generation meet to pave the way for cooperation and thus secure Switzerland's leading role as an innovative and successful market. The approximately 1000 participants can expect a varied program with over 70 national and international top speakers, several experience and networking zones, solution-oriented innovation labs and much more.
