Over 600 new students will start at the ZHAW in Wädenswil in 2024
On September 9, 2024, the new Bachelor's students at the ZHAW in Wädenswil began their introductory week. This so-called "Start Week" at the Department of Life Sciences and Facility Management takes place before the official start of the semester and marks the start of the seven Bachelor's degree programs: Applied Digital Life Sciences, Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Facility Management, Food Technology and Environmental Engineering.
Department Director Urs Hilber and his deputy Diyana Petrova, Head of Education, Research and Resources, welcomed a total of 435 prospective Bachelor's students to the ZHAW Department of Life Sciences and Facility Management in Wädenswil. The Environmental Engineering course, which once again recorded the highest number of new admissions, has been completely revised for this year. Already known for its strong practical orientation, it goes one step further. From the very first semester, the focus is on competence-oriented and project-based didactics.
In addition to the Bachelor's students, the Department of Life Sciences and Facility Management also has 128 new students on the Master's degree courses in Life Sciences, Real Estate & Facility Management and Environment and Natural Resources this fall. A further 43 have already started one of these Master's courses in the spring semester. In addition, 30 Master's students also started in Preneurship for Regenerative Food Systems in the spring. Furthermore, the Master's in Circular Economy Management, offered by the Department of Life Sciences and Facility Management together with the School of Engineering and the School of Management and Law, will welcome its second cohort this fall.
Start week as preparation for your studies
The introductory week, known as the start week, makes it easier for first-semester students to start their Bachelor's degree course, not only with regard to technical and administrative issues, but also to find their way around the campus and their chosen degree course. As in the previous year, the welcome event to kick off the start week took place in the Kulturhalle Glärnisch in Wädenswil. This offers enough space for all new Bachelor students. The students then made their way to the campus with their coaches.
