Sascha M. Burkhalter is a certified real estate trustee and holds an Executive MBA from the HWZ University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich. He began his professional career with a commercial apprenticeship at a fiduciary company in Thun. Sascha M. Burkhalter has been a partner and member of the Board of Directors of Schweizerische Treuhandgesellschaft (Zürich) AG in Zurich since 2019. Previously, he was Delegate of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of a real estate and fiduciary group. He joined the Swiss Commercial Association in 2007 as a member and Finance Delegate of the Central Board of the Swiss Commercial Association. This was followed by numerous other positions within the association and its subsidiaries as well as within the kfmv organization (business schools, audit and finance commissions, pension foundation, etc.). Sascha M. Burkhalter has also been a member of the Board of the Southeastern Switzerland section since 2012.

Sascha M. Burkhalter, who comes from Thun and lives in Surselva in the Grisons Oberland, is looking forward to his new challenge. "The Kaufmännische Verband Schweiz is the oldest employee association in Switzerland that is still active today. For over 150 years, it has been committed to fair, progressive and non-discriminatory working conditions, modern working models and the promotion of lifelong learning. This should continue to be the case," he emphasizes.

"I am convinced that in Sascha M. Burkhalter we have gained an experienced leader who will continue the strategy adopted by the Swiss Commercial Association and lead the association into a successful future," says Daniel Jositsch, President of the Swiss Commercial Association.

New mission statement sets sail for the future

Inspired by an eventful anniversary year in 2023, which will mark the association's 150-year history, the Kaufmännische Verband Schweiz has defined new strategic directions for its core competencies of education and politics. Great development potential was also identified in the areas of skills management, job placement, entrepreneurship and innovation. With a new vision and mission for the Swiss Federation of Commerce and its sections, the mission statement paves the way for the development of new business models, products and services. Under the motto "Empowering people. Together we are the future.", the aim is to create orientation and shared values across all associations, focusing on people as personalities, knowledge carriers and human capital with their individual needs.
