Strategic realignment: Focus on job search

XING transforms itself from a general professional network to a jobs network. In its 20th year of existence, XING's strategic realignment is a response to a changed market situation brought about by demographic change and the shortage of skilled workers.

"We live today in an employee market with enough vacancies but too few workers. Employees nowadays have the choice for which employer they want to work for. As a jobs network, our goal is to help them find the job that really suits them," says Thomas Kindler, Managing Director XING.

The fact that XING will be focusing on jobs in the future becomes clear as soon as you open the app or the XING website. On the newly created homepage, users are inspired to take a look around with suggestions tailored to them, even if they are not currently actively looking for a job. For example, jobs for career changers or companies that offer a very special corporate culture can also be found here. In the future, XING members will receive personalized job suggestions based on their previously specified preferences and profile details via the new "Job Wishes" feature. This gives users the opportunity to specify even more specifically what is important to them in a potential employer or a new job.

This means that active job seekers can increase their chances of receiving suitable job recommendations directly on XING by up to 70 percent. However, more than 20,000 recruiters on the platform not only make XING exciting for active job seekers, but also offer advantages to passive job seekers.

XING Managing Director Thomas Kindler is delighted with the positive reactions of users to the new service: "The extensive tests we carried out in the run-up to the rollout of the new XING homepage show that our members are embracing the change from XING to a jobs network. Traffic in the Jobs section has doubled, users have applied to top job ads around four times more often, and response rates to recruiter queries have also improved by around 50 percent. The transformation of XING is far from complete, but we are on the right track.

The XING job market

In addition to the extensive job offers, job seekers benefit from salary forecasts integrated directly into the job postings, exciting information about the corporate culture and employer ratings. Members who have filled out their profile completely and constantly update it have the opportunity to apply for a job that interests them with just one click. The DACH region's "Lebenslauf.com" resume generator has been implemented directly on XING. In the future, job seekers will be able to simply and conveniently transfer the data from their XING profile, select one of the many design templates, add some more details, and then successfully submit their application with an automatically generated resume.

Networking still possible

Even though XING's new strategic direction focuses on the job search, there is still the opportunity to network and exchange ideas with the approximately 22 million members. There are also articles and tips from more than 250 experienced professionals and insiders on the topics of job hunting, job offers, career paths and labor market trends, as well as the popular XING News, which keeps interested parties up to date on new developments in specific industries.

Thomas Kindler aptly summarizes the advantages of XING: "There are many job platforms but only one jobs network and that is XING. We offer our users a platform where they can find attractive jobs and also be found by exciting companies and leading recruiters. We support them in easily applying for interesting jobs and, of course, continue to promote the exchange of ideas among each other."
