Using software for warehouse management simplifies and speeds up internal processes and ensures full shelves and an overview of equipment.

Warehouse logistics pose a major challenge for many companies. Are the warehouse levels really up to date? How high is the material consumption? Who has taken the craft materials and tools? Or what should the warehouse manager do if, contrary to expectations, the shelf with the desired item is empty? - Such problems can be solved with the help of a digital Tool and warehouse management software effectively. Schwizer Haustechnik AG has also taken its warehouse coordination to a new level.

Schwizer Haustechnik digitizes warehouse coordination

The challenge at Schwizer Haustechnik AG, one of the leading companies in the bathroom, sanitary, heating and ventilation sector, was as follows: At four locations (Gossau, St.Gallen, Rickenbach-Wil and Herisau), it offers its customers the entire building services from a single source for new construction and renovation. Around 60 employees work for the company, fetching countless tools and equipment from the warehouse and taking them to the construction sites.

It is therefore not surprising that the management of materials is a central task that can hardly be accomplished manually. On a paper list, which was fastened with magnets in the tool cabinet, equipment and work materials were assigned to the individual employees of Schwizer Haustechnik. - Not very reliable, because occasionally a magnet would fall off and so no one knew who had taken the equipment they were looking for.

So a contemporary, digital solution was needed that would replace outdated processes and, above all, save time and money. The decision was made in favor of the digital tool and warehouse management software from the Zurich-based start-up company Timly Software AG.

Mobile, central and uncomplicated: Materials always in view

Using an integrated barcode scanner, the work materials and tools of Schwizer Haustechnik were recorded in the system at the beginning and all important information about them was stored. It was important to the company that the data could be retrieved centrally so that employees could access it from anywhere. In this way, the location and status of a device can always be determined, even while on the road.

If an employee wants to borrow a piece of equipment or work materials, he can either pick it up immediately from the warehouse and use a QR code scan to document that he has taken it with him. If it is currently already in use, he can reserve it with a single click. This is possible in a mobile and uncomplicated way without having to contact the warehouse coordinator Mr. Nathan Meyer personally. Of course, the system makes his work much easier and he can keep track of things much better ...

Reminder of reorders and practical operation

The availability of working materials can be checked in advance with the warehouse management app, so that no one is left standing in front of an empty shelf or tool cabinet. For bulk items and consumables, Timly's warehouse management software also has the function to automatically remind you to reorder when a set minimum quantity is reached. This way, materials can be reordered in time before they run out. - Empty shelves adé!

This is of course a great help in everyday life. Because when using Excel lists, stock levels are often not up to date because not everyone has access to them or it is simply neglected to note a withdrawal in them. Device and warehouse management software, on the other hand, has the great advantage of being very practical and intuitive to use. Anyone who has ever scanned a QR code knows that it is much easier than looking for a ballpoint pen (which may then stop writing) and filling out a paper list with the required data: What's in which column again? What is the exact name of the article? (etc.)

In the Timly app, all you have to do is scan the QR code and enter the quantity taken - and you can take the goods with you. As an efficient warehouse management system, such software can also map the entire material flow and optimize coordination.

Software for warehouse management is the trend

Due to its versatility, warehouse management software is suitable for small businesses as well as for medium-sized and large companies. Even the industry hardly makes a difference - whoever has material, quantity and consumables, equipment or other inventory in their company, such software can facilitate the internal processes.

In addition to Schwizer Haustechnik, the Timly app is also used, for example, by Allreal Generalunternehmung, FIEGE Schweiz or Klinik Lengg in Zurich. Companies such as Siemens, Sodastream, BASF or Diringer & Scheidel have also digitalized their warehouse or inventory management with Timly.

So using software to manage inventory is becoming increasingly popular, and more and more companies from a wide range of industries are realizing the benefits. This is because a digital solution provides a real-time picture of work materials and a reliability that neither a magnetic board nor an Excel list can guarantee.

From the magnetic wall to digital warehouse management

Schwizer Haustechnik is happy to have left the magnetic wall behind and digitized its warehouse coordination. Materials, tools, equipment, but also vehicles, trailers and furniture can be managed in a historically traceable way. The warehouse coordinator Nathan Meyer now always has the equipment in view and effectively saves time and costs.

As an indispensable companion, the digital tool and warehouse management software simplifies the daily work processes in the company and optimizes warehouse coordination and organization. In the warehouse, it is then quite simple and practical: scan, check out, take away.
